The Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) will fully implement the Common Core Program (CCP) this academic year for JHS1 (Basic 7) and SHS1 (Basic 10) after organizing workshops for the facilitators/teachers at the JHS level. Learners will have to pursue in SHS 2 to SHS 3 (2years) either a Career-related programme or High School Diploma programme. Learners after completing Basic Education at SHS 3 will be awarded a diploma in either a career-related programme or a high school diploma programme.
The operationalization of the programme will trigger the restructuring of BECE. BECE, a placement exam will transfigure from a norm-referenced assessment to a criterion-referenced assessment with a change in nomenclature.
However, 12 subjects will be studied and taught. The changes start from the class 6 students moving to form 1. The new subjects to be studied are; Mathematics, Literacy (English, Ghanaian Language, French, and Arabic), Science, Computing, Creative Arts and Design, Social Studies, Career Technology, RME, Physical and Health
