The Deplorable State of Our Mortuaries: Korle Bu Teaching Hospital
Majority of Ghanaians have been thrown into a state of shock after a video documentary by EIB network's GH One T.V was sighted indicating the current state of the mortuary of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
As one of Ghana's premier health facilities, after it's establishment in October 1923 by Sir Gordon Guggisberg to serve the health needs of Ghanaians, it has emerged as the third largest hospital in Africa and the leading national referral center in Ghana.
However, with the solemnity that death exudes, one would expect that the temporal place where mortal remains are kept until burial reflects same.
A documentary by Gh One TV's Godwin Asediba on Sunday May 1, 2022 detailed the deplorable state of the facility. With glaring images and vile scenes .
From piled up bodies overflowing from the mortuary fridge to the floor, maggot infested drains filed with human excreta and a body of a dead baby left rotting away poses health risks to attendants and it's a clear indication that the nation has failed the men that are born into it, even days of their afterlife.
There has been an uproar by some Ghanaians on the various social media platforms agitating in response to the devastating documentary.
Below is the full video of the documentary.
