Court stops NDC MP-elect for Assin North from being sworn-in

 6th January,2021.     3:31pm

The Cape Coast High Court has placed an injunction on the swearing in of the member of parliament elect for Assin North James Gyekye Quason.
This was after a resident of Assin Bereku Michael Akomah-Nimfah filed a petition against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) member of parliament for having a dual citizenship.

Quayson is accused of owing allegiance to Canada which is contrary to article 94 (1) (a) of the 1992 constitution.

His appeal is currently impending before the Cape Coast High court awaiting trial.
